Wonderful Feeling, Wonderful Day

Robbie's song of the day: Knowing me, knowing you - Abba
Who woulda thunk it. We actually pulled it off. Early new years
and how.
Quote(ation) of the day, from Robbie Neufeld:
--Excerpt of conversation--
Robbie: So in Penthouse Forum, do they just have a porno thesaurus handy for when they're writting these letters?
Brennan: Ya, I know what you mean. "I've used the word 'vagina' 47 times in this story. I think I'll go back and change the last 46 of them to things like 'love canal' and 'hot box'."
Robbie: Ya! "I was going to say penis, but instead I'll put jizz tube"
--End excerpt--
Holy shit, thought I was going to piss myself.
Well, it's in the cards. Let's see how they flop.

Song of the day: Remember to Breathe - Dashboard Confessional
I'm sorry that I haven't posted in the last few days, but I've been out of town for Christmas.
Man, I said it before, but 'best Christmas season ever'. I swear, I'm one of the luckiest guys in the world to be surrounded by the people that I have.
I've had serious heart-to-hearts with some very close friends of mine, and some comments shared between a few others.
I can't express how nice it is to hear what you need to hear from people that mean so much to you. It's tough knowing what you want, and knowing what's expected of you. Especially when that may or may not agree with what's socially acceptable or traditionally attainable.
I know what it is I want to accomplish, and I've had the greatest luck with being friends with people that will support each other in whatever it is we choose to set as our current or life goal.
For those of you out there in the middle of diffent lifestyles (be it the transition from home life to independant life, or the shift from one set course to another), keep true to what you know, and be greatful for those that support you: I'm not gonna lie, those people are tough to find.

Casual Holiday Drink
[Saskatoon, Saskatchewan]
Song of the day: We Three Kings - Traditional
(Note: Sang by Austin Boryski at Lawson Heighs School's Christmas pageant today)
Tried the rum and eggnog tonight. Wasn't too bad at all. 'Cept I made my eggnog from scratch (as I commonly do, because my dad effin hates nog so we don't always buy it), and seeing as it was the first batch of the season, it wasn't really as thick as it could have been.
All in all though, not a bad experience. Especially when coupled with the conversation that the drink was sipped in. (You and me, buddy. I won't forget that paper on the table. I'm pretty sure if we stop by the school, we could even dig it out of one of those big yellow cabinets.)
And I didn't go carolling, but it was cancelled before I could turn down the offer. Apparently Michelle (the girl that works in the FatCat office) also has no voice, and her boyfriend is sick too. While on the surface this is an unfortunate story, it makes me feel better about not having a voice.
And frick that reminds me: talk less.
I missed a day somewhere in planning for this week. There's a hidden day there I didn't know I had. Therefore, call me (270-0758 or 934-1440).
This also marks the 4th day in a row that I have not gone to bed before 4am. Wow, I love holidays.
Brennan "I'm now officially a Brand New Street-team member" Cuff
ps: While checking out the street-team part of brandnewrock.com, I came across a quotation from October's member of the month:
"The pain of goodbye brings us closer to the joy of hello"
I think I'll try to concentrate on that for a while.
Winter Kicks In
[Saskatoon, Saskatchewan]
Album of the day: Transatlanticism - Death Cab For Cutie
(Note: I listened to the album a total of 5 full times by the time I got home this morning. It all feels like one long song)
I am, for anyone that missed out, the supreme king of baking. I made all of my family's christmas baking tonight (with the help of some certain movie-worthy friends) with only a few contained messes along the way, and a dining room table full of sweets to show for it.
-17 degrees tonight at supper time. Eff was it a blustery day. That's right: blustery. Tomorrow's forcast (Thanks to theweathernetwork.com's desktop updater) is a high of -18, and a 'high' of -23 on Wednesday.
Hibernation starts....... now.
Brennan "I don't care if I don't have a voice, I'm going fucking Christmas carolling!!" Cuff

Band of the day: Transit Radio
Nice night. No shinny, but took some money off the boys in poker. Got to see Robbie too, which was nice.
Tell me, has anyone else that's been using Blogspot find that when they open a site, the most recent entries are from weeks and weeks ago? And you have to scroll until you find the 'archives' section and click on December before it will actually show you the most recent post?
It could just be my computer, but just thought I'd put it out there.
And holy shit do I still not have a voice. Whatever. I'm on effin holidays. Three weeks, bih-chuzz.
Brennan "I watched Much Music for the first time in weeks tonight, and I think I like my life better without teen gossip news" Cuff

Song of the day: Ave Maria - Chanticleer
So this is the point in the day where I try to remember what the hell it was I actually did since last Friday. I hope point form will suffice:
- Weekend off in Edmonton, which kicked ass. Hung out with the girls
- Mad shopping at West Ed (PS: I'm now a mallrat. I can kill two hours in Midtown/West Ed without battting an eye)
- Sunday:
HOLY SHIT. Well, maybe not 'shit', but 'holy' everything else. Yep, sure went to Channukah service at Rachel's synagogue. And I now own my own yamalcha.
- Monday went to Slave Lake (sure was missing you that night)
- Tuesday was gift exchange with the girls. Man, best Christmas season ever. I'm so spoiled. And I got to help out with the song, which was wonderful.
- Wednesday night in Red Deer. Ate supper, shopped, met our billet, got set up in our room, played with the dog (woah man, was it nuts), watched Spiderman 2, called everyone, and was in bed ALL BEFORE 11pm. Un-effin-believable.
-Thursday was gift exchange with the boys and Uncle Brent. Once again, best Christmas season ever. My haul: Death Cab's 'Transatlanticisn' disc (Balzer), black cords (Check), Moulin Rouge DVD (Tony), Eddie Bauer socks, CK underwear, assorted chocolates, stuffed Hippo, Fringe picture (all from Uncle Brent)
- Friday drove home (Since when is Mrs.Clause a fictional character?), and then woke Jessi up :)
- Saturday had lunch on the company dime, went to the mall for a few hours (as stated earlier, it was water off the duck's back) took photobooth pictures, went to party with the parents and have a 5 course meal, left to go to Whiskey Jacks for staff party/karaokeeing (Man, what a blast. Effin awesome. Best time), and finally off to Dave's to crash a welcome home party for the one and only Sean Lynch. I never realize how much I really miss seeing people like Sean, Gall, and LOFSTROM until I hang out with them again. Rest assured, there will be much shinny/poker over the next few weeks.
And that brings us to here. Wow that was long. Who the eff am I? Jay Gall? Why don't I write a damn novel instead...
Best friend: I hope you get your luggage! Holy shit does that suck. Tell Clayton I say hi.
Other best friend (yes Andrew, that's you): Use your cell phone, bastard.
DeeBee: I don't know what that name means, but when I see you soon we can talk about it :)
Jess: 'After the Sunset' looks kinda good for tonight, if you're up for it. I'll call your cell. The movie starts at 7:20.
Everyone else: call me.

Song of the day: Hard to Handle - Black Crowes
Wow. 10 full days, no posts. Too much fun, too little time.
This is just a 'hey', and a full update of the last week or so will come tomorrow (or sometime soon).

Song of the day: Great Romances of the 20th Century - Taking Back Sunday
"A beautiful girl can make you dizzy
Like you've been drinking jack and coke all day
She can make you feel high
For the single greatest commodity known to man:
Promise.
The promise of a better day
The promise of a greater hope
The promise of a new tommorow
This particular oar can be found in the gate of a beautiful girl
In her smile, and in her soul
And how she makes every rotten little thing about life seem like it's gonna be ok"
Brennan "Wish you were here" Cuff
David Lee Roth lights the menorah
[Edmonton, Alberta]
Song of the day: Dreidel, Dreidel, Dreidel - Jewish Traditional
Well, it's official. If I ever have the chance, I would LOVE to be Jewish.
It all started back in grade 11. I was visiting with one Jamie Scharfstein, and she asked if I'd like to stay for dinner. So, with nothing really to do for the night, I happily accepted. Sure didn't know that I would be joining her mom and Danni for a Chanukah dinner. SO amazing to be a part of, and I suggest it to anyone that gets the opportunity.
And then last night, I got to re-live the experience again, plus more.
Sorry Jamie, but Rachel's was the best Chanukah dinner I've ever attended (and it's not that yours was bad, but I just had so much fun).
We got to light the first candle on the menorah, listening to Jewish blessing songs, and then we had a FANTASTIC meal, complete with real latkes (not generic Casino band ones this time) and little Jewish chocolate coins.
Followed by the most relaxing musical experience I've had in a while: various piano and guitar songs, with a fire blazing right behind, and while it wasn't a long night (comparatively), it was definitely full.
The best part: that was night one. There are eight effin nights of this!!
"People say 'Jesus wasn't Jewish'. Of course he was Jewish! 32 years old, living at home with his parents, working in his father's business, his mother thought he was God's gift, he's Jewish! Lay off it!"

Song of the day: Sweet Ones - Sarah Slean
Yep, definitely one of the best (if not THE best) surprise I've ever taken part in.
We made the call to the Bowron residence, got the parents in on it, and drove over to Rachel's house. We did the knock on the door, have the mom ask for the daughter's help (cause she couldn't keep the dogs away from the door and open it at the same time), start the christmas carol, and wait for the door to open.
R: "...(wait....wait...)...(I know that song.... I know those faces.... but.........)..."
(Shaking laughter, and an unfinished carol)
And some quality time in the kitchen and then basement (which is VERY nice I might add) and then off to 117th St.
A very 'urgent' call about a glove, a confused Daneel coming to the door, and three young guys come out from around the evergreen in the front yard.
Hoja: "What... what house are we at? Is... is this the right one? I don't even.... What city is this? What are we doing here? Are we supposed to be here? I don't know what's going on."
(Smiles)
We/I managed to keep it a secret for the full two-ish weeks that we knew we were coming early, and holy shit was it ever worth it.

"Song" of the day: Live Not Dead - Mitch Hedberg
(Yep, definitely one track)
"I had an argument with my girlfriend in a tent. That's a bad place for an arguement, cause then I tried to walk out and slam the flap. How are you supposed to express your anger in this situation? Zip it up really quick? (zip, zip) 'Fuck you'."
"Sometimes I wave at people that I don't know. But it's very dangerous to wave at someone you don't know, cause what if they don't have a hand? They'll think you're cocky. 'Look what I got, mother fucker. This thing is useful. I'm gonna go pick something up'."
"I've got a robe. But it's not really a robe. It's just a towel that fits me."
"If carrots got you drunk, rabbits would be fucked up."
[Frick these are gold]
"I know a lot about cars. I can look at a car's headlights and tell you exactly which way it's coming."
"I say the word 'totally' way too much. I need to start saying a different word that means the same thing. 'Mitch, do you like submarine sandwiches?' 'All-encompassing-ly'."
"If you have a friend that's a tightrope walker, and you're walking down the street with him, and he falls, that would be completely unacceptable"
"Once, my friend said 'I think the weather is trippy.' and I said, 'No, man, maybe it's not the weather, maybe it's just the way that we perceive it that is indeed trippy.' And then I thought: man, I shoulda just said 'ya'."
[Must stop....]
"I think fooseball is a combination of soccer and shiskabob."
"I like to play tennis, but tennis is discouraging. Cause no matter how good you get, you will never be as good as a wall. I played a wall once. They're fuckin relentless"
"I used to do drugs. I still do, but I used to too."
"I wear loose-neck shirts. I've got a fragile neck, so I can't wear regular shirts. Especially turtle necks. If I'm wearing a turtle neck and a backpack, it feels like I'm bein strangled by a really weak guy."
I guess that's enough for now. :)

Song of the day: (Van Silence)
Wow.
One of the most involved experiences I've had in a while. Some of you may have heard from Check or Balzer, but I think it is impossible to explain on here. Therefore, the next time I see you, make sure to ask for a story. (And have a chair ready. It'll take a few minutes.)
Crazy ass. I just can't believe how it went down.....
Anyway:
We finished our tour of Southern Saskatchewan. Some bad shows (With FULL and complete stops mid-way through songs), and some effin fantastic shows. This last week has been the 8th week of preparation for upcoming shows, therefore dubbed: Preparation H. And I must say, on the whole, Prepartion H felt very good.
Alright, that was a weak attempt...
- Congrats to Andrew for starting a 'log'. Wayta use punctuation, hotshot.

Song of the day: One of these things - Nick Drake
Holy crap. SO much good music. First off, Garden State Album. I've said it before and I'll say it again: "Friggin Zach Braff"
For anyone that doesn't know the genious that is Zach Braff, this guy came up with this awesome idea for a movie (Garden State) and after writting it, it took six years gefore it was finally released this year. What a wicked movie with an even WICKEDER soundtrack. You may notice many 'songs of the day' from that album in the not-to-distant future.
Next, 'Straylight Run'. Their album (that I can't remember the name of right now) is also one for the books. (Thank you SO much. I'll get to the 'Sleeping Girl' album on the way home)
Once again, I'm on dial up, so I'll cut it off here.
Hope everyone is doing well.
