[Saskatoon, Saskatchewan]Song of the Day: O Canada - HOJA
Yep, sure sang O Canada at a hockey game for the first time last night. That's been a long time coming. I've been rehearsing for that moment since I was 2. Seriously, ask Ronnie and Connie. Little Brennan playing hockey on his living room floor, driving his tricycle around as a zamboni, and making everyone in the house stand while he takes off his little helmet and sings O Canada at the top of his lungs before he can start playing.
Is it a surprise to anyone that I'm an actor?
Yesterday was good on the whole (That's what SHE said). Performing songs at the intermission of the hockey game was fun, the rehearsing wasn't all that bad, and it's nice to know that Aaron and I fall back into our old rythym like nobody's business. Oh yeah, and we spent part of the day killing time by having a bite to eat in Melfort's bar, and shooting a few games of pool. (This is what I get paid to do)
Now, I mentioned that singing during the intermissions was fun, but there was one slight bump in the road. See, we went on the ice to sing as soon as the zamboni was done flooding, so that left us 6 minutes or so to sing. The problem is, the Nipawin Hawks (visiting team) kept coming on the ice 3 minutes before the horn sounded. So they were all sitting on their bench waiting for us to finish singing so they could get on with their game. And as many of you know: hockey players don't exactly appreciate the art of acappella.
This leads me to the Quote of the day, in Melfort 7-11 just before we hit the road home:
Aaron Check: (Looking through car magazines)
Nipawin Hawks: (From the other side of the aisle) Hey look! It's Homo.
Aaron Check: (Looking up from magazine) Oh yeah, that Homo thing? That was really clever. How, uh, how was the shower with your buddies? (Back to magazine).
It's good to be back...
