Here's to the Cardinal Puff, first blog of the day

[Edmonton, Alberta]
Song of the day: Llueve Cada Domingo - Greystone Singers

And the votes are in:
Today is voted the best day, so far, of this Edmonton trip.

It all started last night, sitting up in Rachel's room reading over Chekov plays with the girls.
"Twenty-one gun salute!"
"SSSHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!"

And then a talkative time with Daneel for a few hours.
"Postroliavich"
"What?"
"Postroliavich"
"......"
"mmmphmmbph...Rachel...mbphm..."

A wonderful wake up with the girls. Two cups of coffee, perfect toast, a warm sweater, seeing the girls off, back to bed to read Wicked, and sleep till afternoon.

Got up, showered and changed, left the house to do my banking, only to realize that my paycheck was back in Saskatoon. So what do I do when I'm driving around Edmonton with no where to go?

So I'm at West Edmonton Mall, and I parked near the Hotel entrance. I figure it was one of the only times I'm going to be at the mall and not have to use the Burbon Street entrance.

Such a relaxing and pleasurable experience. I bought a cup of coffee from the most Canadian Tim Horton's in the country: the only one I know that looks over a hockey rink. I enjoyed that cup while watching some girls warm up for their Figure Skating competitions.

I tell ya, I've spent more hours on ice than you would care to shake a stick at. I've been all over the country playing hockey, and live and breathe the sport whenever I can. But these girls were something different.

Maybe it was just because I was on the second level and couldn't hear the blades cutting the ice, but they were just so effin gracefull. They just glided wherever they went. And it dawned on me: I've dated my share of dancers, and they seem to fit with me. But it never occured to me that Figure Skaters are the perfect blend of dancer and ice-skating lover. And they're so effin hard to find. Think about it: how many figure skaters are you friends with? (If you ARE friends with them, PLEASE pass my name along.)

On my way back to the other end of the mall, I stopped in to watch the Waterpark. And wouldn't you know it, as soon as I entered the room, the horn sounded to announce the start of the waves. It's truely amazing how much that waterpark looked like a miniature self-contained ocean. The waves, the people wadding at the shallow end. It was fun to watch.

From there it was back down to the Santa Maria, to have the first Cinnzeo Cinnamonroll I ever remember having. It was too good. I'm sure I wouldn't have been able to take more than one.

And now I'm here back at the Bowron residence. I finished another few chapters of Wicked, and now I get to listen to the beautiful piano playing of Mrs. Bowron while I update my site.

Like I said before, too effin lucky.

And I get to see the girls tonight, and I get to be a 'student for a day' tomorrow in the Theatre Arts program and Grant MacEwan.

Yep, bar none: best day ever...
